Don't miss the opportunity to enroll in one of two exciting courses that explore the global dimensions of engineering.  Both are being offered Spring 2016 and offer students a unique insight into important aspects of engineering.

ENGR 5050: Humanitarian Engineering

Definition: Humanitarian engineering is the creation of technologies that help people.

Course Description: Poverty, underdevelopment, sustainability, culture, social justice, and development strategies. Engineering for community development. Analytical methods. 3 credit hours

Spring 2016: MWF 3:00pm-3:55pm, Rm. E0024 Scott Laboratory.

                      (offered annually, each Spring semester)

Prerequisites: ENGR 1182 or 1282 or graduate standing or permission of instructor.

For students who choose to do so, taking this class can also serve as preparation for some humanitarian engineering field projects with Prof Passino.

ENGR 5194: Appropriate Technology for Developing Countries

Definition: Appropriate technology product development for people in developing countries.

Course Description: This course is designed to provide applied knowledge of appropriate technology product development for people in developing countries. Commercializing products helps to ensure long-term sustainability, and this course will focus on such market driven solutions for community development. 3 credit hours.

Spring 2016: (33286) MWF 9:00 - 9:55am, Rm. 3011 Smith. 

Prerequisites: ENGR 1182 or ENGR 1282 or graduate student standing or permission of instructor.
